Tilapia is mostly consumed in the Philippines because of its budget friendly price and it is easy to prepare. Back to the topic, most of the tilapia being distributed worldwide has not been grown in natural conditions, but in factory farms. Farms use many different fertilizers to take care of the fish, meaning farms are using many different chemicals on them. These chemicals are not good when it transfers to the body and can cause many different health complications.


Farm-bred tilapia can cause coronary disease, joint inflammation, and asthma. Tilapia contains carcinogens, an expert warned to avoid tilapia on your type of fish or buy from a trusted seafood store where tilapia was freshly caught.
